Dr Dougall McCorry

Dr Dougall McCorry is the founder of Brain Matters. He is an experienced neurologist and leading medico-legal expert, that has been the clinical director for the University Hospital Birmingham Epilepsy Surgery Program. He presently has an equal split of the defendant and claimant cases. His major instructing firms include Clyde and co and Irwin Mitchell.

Dr Peter Jenkins

Dr Peter Jenkins is a Consultant Neurologist. He graduated with a double First in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University. Then graduated from Oxford University in Medicine and was awarded Merit for finals examinations and Baber Scholarship. Dr Peter Jenkins also undertook a PhD at Imperial College London. His specialist area of clinical practice and academic interest is in the diagnosis and management of traumatic brain injury and its complications.

Ms Denise Hughes

Denise is a Registered Nurse and Independent Nurse Prescriber with over 35 years experience working in the NHS. Since 2000 Denise has worked as an Epilepsy Nurse Specialist, having managerial and clinical roles in learning disability, neurology and neuropsychiatry services.

Dr A Paul Mocroft

Dr A P Mocroft is a medico-legal expert, qualified from Birmingham University in 1981. His training took place in various hospitals throughout the Midlands. Clinical Neurophysiology training was undertaken in Birmingham and Coventry.

Dr A P Mocroft has been a Consultant in Clinical Neurophysiology at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham since 1994. He has been practising in private practice for 26 years. He has been involved in Medico-Legal work for 15 years and provides a Neurophysiology Report for around 100 cases per year. During this time he has helped to train many registrars who are now consultants in their own right throughout the country. He has been Clinical Service Lead and is currently Regional Specialty Advisor for this specialty. Also works at Circle Rehabilitation Birmingham.

Clinical Interests:

Dr A P Mocroft has an interest in peripheral nerve disorders, in particular diagnosis of nerve entrapments and general nerve disorders. He has expertise in the neurophysiological diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease and general muscle disorders.

Dr David Hacker

Dr David Hacker is a medico-legal expert and works 0.7 WTE at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital at present and lead Neuropsychologist for Traumatic Brain Injury where he has worked for the past 15 years. He has an established medico-legal practice. Dr David Hacker has expertise in the following areas:

  • The assessment and treatment of challenging behaviour
  • Cognitive rehabilitation
  • Cognitive behavioural approaches to mental disorder
  • Staff training

We arrange 3T Scanning

We can arrange 3T scanning with appropriate protocols to look for brain injury in our 3T open MRI scanner.
